About

In 1990, shortly after Bobby Green rededicated his life to Christ, he along with two friends Ashley Pocopanni and Lisa Glover began traveling and singing for the Glory of God. Due to the Lord’s blessing on the group it became necessary to select a name that would explain their heart’s desire for this ministry. The name Sound and Spirit met that need, expressing both their love for Gospel Music and their utmost desire to reach the lost through the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

During the next sixteen years of ministry, circumstances arose that required a change of group members. Our God was always faithful to send the right person, making it possible for the ministry to continue.

Past group members also include Wendy McCord, Michael Murph, Jimmy Mobley, Rex Kornegay and Rogenia Green (Bobby’s WIfe). Thanks be to our God for sending such talented people to continue the Sound and Spirit ministry of spreading the Gospel through music and His Word. The ministry has been called to share both locally and nationally from their home base in Northwest Florida to the far north in Michigan.

Sound and Spirit has been honored to share the stage with artist such as The McKameys, The Dixie Echoes, The Hoppers, Jeff and Sheri Easter, The New Hinsons, The Perrys, The Whisnants, HeavenBound and many more.

In the early 90’s Sound and Spirit was able to compete at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky where they placed 2nd out of 52 groups from all across the nation.

After sixteen years on the road group members decided to spend some time at home with their families. Each serving in their local church as youth, worship leaders, singers and pianists.

However, God was not through using Sound and Spirit to further the Gospel and in 2015 they reorganized with current members Bobby Green, Carol Miller, Milton Hardin and fill-in Karen Cooley. Although members have changed, the mission is the same.

May God continue to bless and use Sound and Spirit through Southern Gospel Music to encourage others to seek the Lord. To God be the Glory.
